Pinot & Grenache Dinner - Sydney

2017 Alkoomi Melaleuca Riesling, Frankland River

Sourced from a single block of riesling planted in 1971, this wine showcases lifted aromas of citrus zest with slate and hints of musk. The palate is vibrant and delicate yet intense, with pink grapefruit, makrut lime and sherbet-like acidity.

2017 Montara Riesling, Grampians

Aromas of lemon and lime are supported by floral notes of lemon blossom. The palate shows the hallmark regional citrus characters, with brisk natural acidity complemented beautifully by integrated residual sugar. A wine of tension and soft texture, ensuring great drinkability.

2017 Hoddles Creek Syberia Chardonnay, Yarra Valley

The vine rows in Hoddles Creek’s Syberia vineyard run east-west instead of north-south, resulting in less sun and providing the final wine with a distinct mineral, cool-climate edge.

2017 Montalto Single Vineyard The Eleven Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula

Purity and tension are the hallmark qualities of this complex wine. Lemon and lime sherbet, tangerine and grapefruit aromas combine with floral and mineral notes, leading to a palate with remarkable drive and focus.

2019 Deep Down Pinot Noir, Marlborough

This additive-free, naturally fermented wine shows savoury aromas of fresh dark fruit, leading to a succulent, supple and complex yet refreshing palate.  A pure, vibrant expression of Marlborough pinot noir.

2017 Quartz Reef Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, Central Otago

Sourced from the Bendigo subregion of Central Otago, this complex pinot noir exhibits intense cherry and berry aromas. The palate is rich with dark cherry flavours, subtle floral and herbaceous notes, fine tannins and a long vibrant finish.

2018 Seville Estate Reserve Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley

Lifted and perfumed notes of red berry fruits and fine spice continue on the palate with elegant, silky tannins. Savoury whole-bunch characters provide depth and earthy complexity framed by persistent acidity.

2017 Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard Brooks Road Shiraz, McLaren Vale

The cooler 2017 vintage resulted in shiraz with elegance, liveliness and good fruit character. This balanced wine shows round blackberry and black pepper notes on a lithe and supple frame.

2015 Zema Estate Shiraz, Coonawarra

This classic expression of Coonawarra shiraz shows dark fruit aromas complemented by notes of toasty oak. The palate is well structured with ripe plum and mulberry flavours, peppery spice and fine tannins.

2017 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz, South Australia

Often referred to as ‘Baby Grange’, this full and rich wine – a classic example of cabernet shiraz – shows flavours of charcuterie meats, pomegranate and cranberry with vanilla and liquorice notes tempered by new oak and soft, even tannins.

2016 Tahbilk Old Vines Cabernet Shiraz, Nagambie Lakes

Hints of bay leaf, mint and pepper weave seamlessly around a core of dark berry, plum and spice with underlying herbal and cedar notes. Rich, savoury tannins support the finish and promise a long life in the cellar.

2017 Fraser Gallop Estate Parterre Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River

82% cabernet sauvignon with small amounts of petit verdot, merlot, cabernet franc and malbec render this wine very similar in profile and character to the great reds of Bordeaux.

2016 Kay Brothers Cuthbert Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale

Aromas of mint, blackberry, clove and cedar lead to a rich and concentrated palate, offering flavours of mulberry and dark currant supported by fine, chalky tannins and a supple mineral element.

2015 Taylors St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon, Clare Valley

Enticing, lifted aromas of ripe blackcurrant, choc mint, subtle spice and a hint of dried tomato leaf. The palate is balanced with blackcurrant, chocolate and mint flavours supported by hints of cedar and tobacco.
