2008 House of Arras Grand Vintage, Tasmania

Enticing aromas of grapefruit, jasmine, sea brine and lanolin lead to an elegant, poised palate showcasing complex nuances of exotic spice, truffle, meringue and natural yoghurt.

2009 Tyrrell’s Winemaker’s Selection Vat 1 Semillon, Hunter Valley

Recognised as one of the world’s best semillons, Vat 1 is sourced from two special blocks planted in 1923 and 1968. Full and soft with an abundance of citrus fruit flavours, this wine is only just beginning to evolve and shows a hint of a toasty, bottle-aged complexity.

2009 Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Riesling, Frankland River

Intense aromatics of ironstone flintiness, lemon and lime with lifted floral notes. The palate is powerful and mouth-filling with a concentrated mix of juicy lime and citrus notes, floral overtones and a mineral core.

2005 Henschke Julius Riesling, Eden Valley

Lifted floral aromas of citrus blossom and grapefruit are complemented by hints of stone fruits, lime zest, marmalade and clove. This wine is youthful for its age, with a vibrant and zesty palate beautifully balanced between fruit and crunchy acid.

2011 Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling, Clare Valley

The Hanlin Hill vineyard has produced full-flavoured, slate-like rieslings since its first release in 1979. Abundant aromas of citrus blossom with hints of spice and tropical highlights. The palate offers searing acidity, ripe apple and lemon-lime intensity, finishing with sweet fruit and chalky texture.

2010 Balnaves The Tally Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra

Perfumed with perfectly ripened dark blackberry, liquorice and cassis, this exceptional Coonawarra cabernet exhibits a firm and structured palate with coffee and milk characters adding to the dark fruit flavours. The finish is long and textured with fine-grained tannins.

2009 Howard Park Leston Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River

This wine shows aromas of blackberry and mulberry lifted by hints of sweet mint and mocha. Defined by grace and power, the palate structure is full of intense, sweet dark berry fruits balanced by fine tannins and powdery, talc-like oak.

2005 Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz, McLaren Vale

Dark, brooding aromas of blackberry and plum combine with aged characters of leather, coffee, dark chocolate and roasted nuts. The palate shows sweeter dark fruits with complex fruit cake and dark chocolate complemented by mid-palate acidity and a long, clean finish.

2009 Hentley Farm The Beauty Shiraz, Barossa Valley

Co-fermented with 3% viognier, this Barossa Valley shiraz shows lifted aromas of dark berry fruits combined with white pepper and floral notes. The palate leads from a luscious fruit sweetness to dry, savoury tannins, dark fruits and light, integrated oak.

2010 John Duval Eligo Shiraz, Barossa

Crafted with fruit sourced from vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Eligo represents the best of John Duval’s 2010 vintage. Lifted aromas of blackberry and blueberry, liquorice and dark chocolate lead to an intense but restrained palate with concentration of black fruit, spice and cedar.

2010 Kay Brothers Block 6 Shiraz, McLaren Vale

Rich aromas of crème de cassis, warm blueberry and toast with hints of allspice, vanilla and milk chocolate. A medium- to full-bodied shiraz with excellent concentration of berry flavours supported by velvety tannins and a lingering finish.

2009 Torbreck Descendant Shiraz Viognier, Barossa Valley

Pure, wild and powerful aromas of blackberry and tar are complemented by a gentle floral lift of lavender and violets. Full-bodied with great concentration, silky tannins and perfectly judged extract, this is a vigorous and suave example of Barossa shiraz.
