condie estate
Star Cellar Door
More than 20 years ago, while working as a corporate risk manager, Richie Condie, a country boy at heart, was compelled to plant a couple of hectares of shiraz in Heathcote. Within 10 years, he was studying winemaking and ready to launch Condie Estate together with wife Rosanne. Now they are living the dream and it shows. The wines continue to go from strength to strength as curiosity and passion drive experimentation and growth. Wines made from primarily estate-grown fruit include sangiovese and nero d’Avola, varieties inspired by Rosanne’s Italian heritage, along with classic Rhône grapes such as mataro (mourvèdre) and viognier. This is boutique winemaking at its best. The winemaker himself greets cellar door visitors with warmth and plenty of stories. Tastings are held in the rustic barrel room, with a winery tour and perhaps a barrel sample or two just a question away.
