Star Cellar Door
A short drive from Myrtleford in the Rosewhite valley, The Homestead Estate is a living testament to the history of the region. Owners Noela Dawes and Micheal Freudenstein have meticulously restored the original 1860s building. Guests are hosted in the splendid front room where a range of wines are available to taste. The estate grows several varieties more recently arrived to Australian shores that produce wines including a savagnin, a sangiovese and a duo of fortified wines. A glass of the Methode Traditionelle Blanc de Blanc will start your tasting, pairing chardonnay with an unexpected but delicious partner – your visit will reveal its identity. The estate is also home to an olive grove so a visit can include sampling the estate olive oil, house made dukkha and fruit jellies, not to mention the Devonshire Tea for those wishing to savour the panoramic vistas.
