Bendigo winery Balgownie Estate is celebrating 50 years since its first commercial vineyards were planted in the spring of 1969. To mark the occasion, the estate is releasing a limited edition 2015 Old Vine Cabernet, sourced from the original 1969 cabernet sauvignon vineyards.
“The Old Vine Cabernet is a beautifully complex wine with a concentration of savoury flavours and supple fine tannins to close on the long finish. It’s the perfect wine to celebrate this half a century milestone,” said Tony Winspear, Balgownie Estate’s Chief Winemaker.
In addition, Balgownie is also hosting its 50 Years of Winemaking Festival Day and 50th Golden Anniversary Gala Wine Dinner to commemorate the special occasion. If you’re visiting the region during Bendigo Uncorked Week you can also join in on the celebrations at the estate’s 50th Anniversary of Winemaking Heritage Dinner, which will be a showcase of the estate’s best wines from the past 50 years.
