While a trip to your favourite wine region may be off the cards for the moment, there are still plenty of ways to get your Aussie wine fix, and all from the comfort of your own home.

Yarra Valley Wine Down and Virtual Cellar Door Tours

Each Thursday at 5pm, via Wine Yarra Valley on Instagram Live

How does a trip to the Yarra Valley every week sound? Get comfortable as you’re taken on a journey around one of the region’s cellar doors, followed by a live talk with the winemaker behind it. It’s your chance to have a chat about almost anything. From questions about the 2020 vintage, to what they’re loving on Netflix, it’s a great way to get to know the people behind your favourite wines.

So far the program has included the likes of Sarah Crowe from Yarra Yering and Dan Buckle from Chandon. Up next throughout June and July, Jayden Ong Wines, Medhurst Wines, De Bortoli and Greenstone Vineyards will be starring in the series.

The National Wine Centre At Home

Each Thursday from 8pm-10pm

Looking to brush up on your Australian wine region knowledge? The National Wine Centre At Home is a virtual masterclass held each Thursday night focusing in-depth on one Australian wine region a week. Led by Head Sommelier James Boden, the masterclasses will also include appearances from local winemakers who will be on hand to provide answers to any burning questions. If you’re tuning in from Adelaide, you can take part in a tasting along with Boden, with six wines featured in the class sent to your door in tasting samples. Over the next couple of months, Boden will be hosting masterclasses on Geelong, Geographe, Great Southern, Heathcote and the Hunter Valley, all featuring a star-studded line-up of winemakers.

Barossa Live Happy Hour (ish)

Each Wednesday-Friday at 5pm, via Barossa Wine on Facebook Live

Wind down your day by having a glass of wine with some of the Barossa Valley’s finest winemakers. Tune in as they chat about all things wine, with some even taking you for a sneak-peek tour through the winery and a tasting of their range.

The program has already starred winemakers like Josh Pfeiffer of Whistler Wines, and Rod and Daniel McDonald of The Cutting Winery, with plenty more experts raising their hands to be next.

Transport yourself to the stunning Margaret River with their latest podcast series Wine Unearthed. Each episode delves into the region’s ever-growing wine industry, as well as its rich history, culture, local community and, of course, famous coastline and scenery.
