Best’s Great Western is a company deeply ingrained in the Victorian wine industry with their rich viticultural heritage. But 2020 is a special year for Best’s as it marks 100 years since the Thomson family took custodianship of the winery. Across five generations, the Thomson family have built the winery into what it is today, with a strong ethos of hard work.
The anniversary sees the 2017 vintage release of the Best’s Great Western’s flagship wine, the Thomson Family Shiraz. Sourced from the Concongella vineyard planted in 1868 by Henry Best, the wine has only been released in the most exceptional of vintages since its creation in 1993. The 2017 Thomson Family Shiraz (A$250) drinks well now, or can be saved for celebrating something special.
