Rhône Tasting

➽ 10 & 15 FEBRUARY

While we can’t travel there for now, who says we can’t enjoy the spectacular wines from the Rhône Valley right here? Join Peter Bourne as he transports you with a tasting of the line-up featured in this edition’s Panel Tasting (page 40). Those in Sydney can catch the tasting on 10 February at Winespace, and those in Orange on 15 February at Ferment, The Orange Wine Centre. The Sydney tasting is $75 and Orange is $55, and both run from 6pm to 8pm.

Introductory Wine Course

Why not make your New Year’s resolution to learn more about wine with the help of Peter Bourne and his Introductory Wine Course? You’ll be a wine whiz in no time, as Peter takes the class through all the basics on how to taste wine, plus the well-known varieties and regions. You’ll also get the chance to try wines hand-picked by Peter. The course is held in Sydney over 16 and 17 February, and is $295.

The Tasmanian Wine Festival is back for its second year, hosting all your favourite Tassie producers. Get your questions ready as you meet the winemakers and producers themselves, with names like Frogmore Creek, Meadowbank, Tamar Ridge, Derwent Estate, Clover Hill and more all featuring. Did we mention the views? Held in the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens it’s the perfect spot to spend the day and enjoy your purchases.

➽ 27 & 28 FEBRUARY

Looking for a way to spend the WA Labour Day long weekend? Head to Fremantle to enjoy all the best of WA’s wine scene with the On Cloud Wine event. Held at the B Shed in Victoria Quay, taste with a view of the harbour as you join local wineries for tastings, tapas and live music. There’s two sessions each day to book in for, with each ticket including a glass for your tastings (which you’re also welcome to take home with you) and access to a wine locker to hold all your purchases.

The much-loved Orange FOOD Week is on again celebrating it’s 30th year. As always, there are plenty of highlights on the program, including The Sampson Street Lunch, Sunday Producers’ Market and Brunch, to name a few. Also don’t miss FOOD’s 30th Anniversary Dinner, where five local, young-gun chefs will be cooking a feast of local produce – all paired with local wine.
