WHILE THE STUNNING WINES OF CHAMPAGNE JEEPER may be relatively new to discerning Champagne lovers in Australia, they are renowned the world over for their refined, low dosage chardonnay-focused styles, which are aged on lees for an average of five years. Champagne Jeeper is dedicated to sustainable production; even their unique bottles are designed to minimise use of sulphur and reduce oxidation.
Although Armand Goutorbe’s family had been growing grapes in Champagne since the 18th century, the story of Champagne Jeeper began in 1949, when Armand made the decision to diversify and market his Champagne.
There were already a high number of Goutorbe family winemakers in the region, so in an effort to stand out, Armand christened his brand Champagne Jeeper – an homage to the Jeep he was gifted by American soldiers during World War II, after he was injured during a rescue mission against the invading Germans. As he peacefully surveyed in his vineyards in his beloved vehicle, Armand became locally known as Monsieur Jeeper. The rest, as they say, is history.
The wines of Champagne Jeeper are some of the most exceptional examples of sustainably produced Champagnes available in Australia. Drink the Champagne you deserve.
