Italian Reds

21 & 31 August + 5 September

Our experts have given their verdict on the whole array of Italian and Italian-style reds featured in our Gourmet Traveller WINE panel tasting. Now it’s your turn to decide what you think of them. Join Peter Bourne who will host two tastings – in Sydney on Wednesday 31 August at Winespace (119 Kippax St, Surry Hills) and in Orange on Monday 5 September at Ferment, The Orange Wine Centre (87 Hill St, Orange), both from 6-8pm. The Sydney tasting will cost $75 and the Orange tasting $55. Book via or (02) 9552 2366.

In Melbourne, Jeremy Prideaux will hold a tasting of the same wines on Wednesday 21 August between 6-8pm at Recoleta (Upstairs, 10 Bourke St, Melbourne). Tickets cost $55. To book call (03) 9654 6657.

Australia International Wine Challenge

Orange Winter Fire Festival

3 & 4 August

Whether you need fine wine or hearty food to get you through the colder months, the Orange Winter Fire Festival has you covered. Held across the first weekend in August, the festival celebrates all things fiery.

Headlining the program is the new Fires in the Sky dinner, exploring the Wiradjuri culture through stargazing, art and a wood-fired feast of native produce. Discover the food on offer at historic Millthorpe’s Night Markets, or treat yourself to a Southern Italian banquet from Sud Restaurant’s Paolo Gatto, matched with Philip Shaw Wines.

Enjoy a rustic dinner at The Old Convent, or an elegant lunch at Racine Restaurant, where Rikard Wines will be showcased.

Coriole 50th Birthday Roadshow

6, 7 & 8 august

Mark Lloyd of Coriole and his sons Peter and Duncan are celebrating 50 years of family business with a touring road show.

Welcomed with a glass of prosecco you will then be guided through a full wine tasting by Coriole’s team, including Mark, who has been responsible for the introduction of many alternative grape varieties in Australia.

The roadshow kicks off in Melbourne on Tuesday 6 August at Horti Hall (31 Victoria Street, Carlton). In Sydney the event will take place on Wednesday 7 August at Chiswick at the Gallery (Art Gallery Road, The Domain) and the last stop will be Brisbane on Thursday 8 August at Brisbane Powerhouse (119 Lamington Street, New Farm), all from 5.30-8pm.
