Barossa Valley

Australia’s most famous wine region is home to some of the biggest names in the biz, but there is something to suit everyone’s tastes. From world-famous wineries to quaint boutique operators, the Barossa covers all bases with aplomb.
There’s diversity across its length with each of the individual subregions signing their unique signature on the wines. The famous Barossa shiraz is, of course, front and centre but in recent times, grenache and mataro have been standing tall and the alternative varieties are making their presence felt. With wonderful wines, great restaurants and produce, and friendly locals, the Barossa Valley should be on your bucket list.

Star Cellar Door & Best Tasting Experience

0417 454 556

There are some amazing cellar door experiences in the Barossa. The David Franz cellar door gets the nod this year because it just feels like a place where wine is meant to be enjoyed – preferably in the company of friends and definitely with a plate of something delicious.

Dave Lehmann has created an experience that delivers all of that effortlessly, and when you stride through the front door, you feel instantly at home and
comfortable in the surroundings. It’s all exposed beams, wood and stone. Warm and inviting – just like the staff.

The quirky range of wines with screen-printed labels are bang on the money and delicious to boot. You can head to the fridge and put together your own charcuterie plate or there is always something epic bubbling away on the stove. Then head to a table outside to soak in the view and the company you’re with. It’s a cracking spot. DAVID BROOKES
