Talented team Michael and Zara Madrusan from Made in the Shade and who are also responsible for such venues as The Everleigh and Heartbreaker will launch Bar Margaux in Melbourne’s CBD in May.
Located in a basement in Lonsdale Street, this bar and restaurant is set to take its lead from the Parisian-style brasseries of New York. Featuring white subway tiles, red banquettes and a zinc bar top, it promises to be the spot to drop into for anything from a quick cocktail or glass of wine to the full dinner menu.
Michael and Marty McCaig, co-owner of South Yarra’s South Press will be in charge of the wine program. There’s word that there will be an ‘epic’ and diverse Champagne list, plenty of French wines, plus a whole bunch of natural wine producers featuring on the list. Cocktails will also play a key role, with a selection of wine-based and aperitif-style drinks, plus half-sized Martinis and Manhattans.
According to Madrusan, the vibe will be “lively and late”.
Opening 4pm-3am Sunday to Thursday and 4pm-5am Friday and Saturday.
Basement level, 111 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
